BA (Hons) English
Whilst reading my Bachelor of Arts degree in English at Queen Mary and Westfield College in London, my interest in teaching developed. I developed a passion for educating the next generation and started to volunteer in a range of educational settings. I soon realised I could combine my love for children and reading books into a rewarding career. In 1999, I started my first teaching post as an English teacher in a challenging inner city school in West London. Although it was hard, I loved my work and found my ‘calling’. I am very blessed to wake up every day and do a job that I love. It’s been an incredible journey so far, I have held different positions including being a Head of Year, led on G&T and whole school teaching and learning. I decided to leave the big smoke in 2010 and return to my birthplace, because that’s where my heart is. Since joining SGS, I continue to work with inspiring colleagues and in some small way, I try to impact positively on the life chances of our students– how rewarding is that?
